Overview
The Scotch Plains-Fanwood Soccer Club consists of four primary Programs. The combination of these Programs provide an opportunity for all young players of any skill level to compete and enjoy the beautiful game of soccer.
The Junior Recreation Program
Players born in 2013 through 2019 - (U4 - U10)
SPFSC's introduction to soccer starts with our Junior REC program. Starting with the U4 Division, up to our U10 rosters. We offer a fun, competitive, and learning experience. Our program uses a mixture of relying on volunteer coaches as well as paid trainers. Read more...
The Senior Recreation Program
Players born in 2012 through High School age - (U11 - High School)
Beginning in the Fall 2017, the SPFSC Intercounty Program established a new league with other neighboring towns such as Cranford, Westfield and Clark. The new league – Suburban Youth Soccer League, or SYSL – replaced our club’s participation in the Intercounty Youth Soccer League. Read more...

- Format: This is a clinic format division with no teams, no games, and a once weekly 30-minute practice. The intent is to introduce players to organized sport and activity with a focus on the ABC's: Agility, Balance and Coordination.
- Tryouts: No tryouts - all who want to play will play
- Practices: Once per week on Friday afternoons for 30 minutes; led by professional trainers.

- Practices: Once per week on Monday or Wednesday afternoon for 45 minutes; led by professional trainers, supported by volunteer coaches.
- Games: The games are every Saturday morning for 45 minutes, and include 15 minutes of professional trainer instruction followed by 30 minutes of volunteer coach-led play.

Diamond Academy - U7 Division
- The Diamond Academy Program is a technically focused training program designed to prepare players for the next level of soccer. The small sized games will provide better ratios for player’s time on the ball with the idea of continuous play. Players develop quicker as they are forced into a multitude of decision making moments in every practice and game. The trainers take the curriculum material and provide the teachable moments for the players to execute their technical skills in the game situations. The majority of Diamond Academy players have gone seamlessly into travel and the level of the travel teams has increased exponentially. You can expect a positive, dynamic learning environment where players are pushed to improve, but where they are encouraged to have fun at the same time. Your child will see a huge improvement in their technical ability as a result of the Diamond Academy.

The league offers high quality, flighted competition ranging from the purely recreational athlete through to more competitive players that cannot make a full-time commitment to a travel soccer program.

Senior Recreation - High School Division
- The Senior Recreation Program competes in the Suburban Youth Soccer League (SYSL). SYSL is a semi-recreational league and is comprised of member clubs from the suburban New Jersey footprint of Union, Middlesex, Essex, and Somerset counties. The league offers high quality, flighted competition ranging from the purely recreational athlete through to more competitive players that cannot make a full-time commitment to a travel soccer program.
- For players turning 16, 17 or 18 in 2023.
- Format: Games are 11v11 with goal keeper on a regulation sized 11v11 field. Games last approximately 1.5 hours.
- Tryouts: No tryouts - all who want to play will play
- Practices: Once per week for 1.5 hours; parent volunteer run. Optional weekly trainer led group sessions.
- Games: Games are normally on Saturday and Sundays, occasionally can be played during the week.

Travel Program - High School Division
- The SPF Soccer Travel Program is a selective program designed to teach the player (boys & girls) to play the game of soccer and compete at as high a level as possible. Professional coaching uses a curriculum that takes a player through a training progression focused on learning the game. Travel is for the player that demonstrates the potential and the commitment to the game and their team. The Scotch Plains-Fanwood Travel Program is competitive. Games involve travel to other towns to play. Teams and players are re-evaluated from year to year and rosters may change.
- The Travel High School Division is for players turning 16, 17 or 18 in 2023.
- Format: Games are 11v11 with goal keeper; field size: 300+' length; goal size: 24' X 8'; game time: 90 minutes; game coordination: paid referees.
- Practices: At least twice per week for 1.5 hours; Each Travel Team has a dedicated trainer.
- Games: There is usually a game every weekend during the Fall and Spring seasons
- Fall Season: ~10 weeks
